This tutorial is written for PSP 7.04 but it does work out at other versions :-)
This tutorial is completely my own creation and any similarity to other tutorials, is purely coincidental.
Needs:
Of course Paint Shop Pro. Download 30 days trial HERE.
VM Toolbox. You can download it HERE.
Simple Filters. You can download it HERE.
Save your work often!
Open a picture you want to use.
A bit spiritual picture if you have.
Shift + D to duplicate it.
Resize picture if needed.
Right click layer and promote to layer.
Right click layer again and duplicate layer.
Hide the copy and make your layer 1 active.
Effects/Texture Effects/Mosaic Glass (columns & rows 25, glass curvature 75, edge
curvature 5, grout width 5, grout opacity 50)
Effects/Texture Effects/Mosaic Antique (columns & rows 25, tile opacity 70, grout width
2, grout opacity 50)
Plug-in/Simple/Pizza Slice Mirror (or 4 Way Average or Quick Tile if your picture isn't
square).
Go back to the copy of your layer and rezise only this layer.
I rezised it by 75%.
Sharpen.
Hide layer 1.
Plug-ins/VM Toolbox/Crystal Ball.
Apply with these settings:
Higlight X & Y 54, Highlight size 190 (play with it if you use another picture), Distortion 36, Radius 139 (I made the circle fit into the square), Brightness 130, Transparency 130, Refraction 130.
Lower the opacity of your Crystal Ball if you want to.
Make your layer 1 visible again but stay at your Crystal Ball layer.
Click with your magic wand at the border.
You will have marching ants around it.
Go to layer 1.
Selection/Invert.
Apply a drop shadow.
I used H & V 3, Opacity 50, Blur 5 and again with H & V -3.
You can also do it without the Selection/Invert before applying the drop shadow, looks
great also!
Merge visible.
Effects/Illumination Effects/Sunburst.
I used these settings:
Rays: Density 25, Brightness 50, Light spot: Brightness 80, Horizontal 14, Vertical 8,
Circle: Brightness 100.
Color I used is #E5E6FF (soft tone from one of the colors of the picture).
If you want you can add some hand pictures/tubes around the Crystal ball. And or
another border.
Finished.
