This tutorial is written for PSP 7.04 but it does work out at other versions :-)
This tutorial is completely my own creation and any similarity to other tutorials, is purely coincidental.
Needs:
Of course Paint Shop Pro. Download 30 days trial HERE.
Color palette. Click at the image. A new window will open. Right click to save.
Open new transparent canvas 300x500.
With your preset shapes set to Ellipse. Foreground color null. Background color color 2. Antialias and Vector checked. Draw an ellipse shape for the body. About 185x200.
Hold down the Ctrl key and push the right bottom node a bit to the middle.
Still holding down the Ctrl key stretch the upper right node a bit to the right.
You now have something like this:
With your preset shapes set to Ellipse. Foreground color null. Background color color 2. Antialias and Vector checked. Draw an ellipse shape for the head. About 140x125.
Rotate the head to the right.
Object Selector. Node edit.
Add nodes like this:
Go to the bottom layer.
With your preset shapes set to Ellipse. Foreground color null. Background color color 2. Antialias and Vector checked. Draw an ellipse shape for the back legs. About 250x140.
Object Selector. Node edit.
Click at the middle bottom node and pull the right arrow to the right and the left arrow to the left.
Convert to raster. Rename Back Legs.
Selection/Select All/Float.
Cutout. H/V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 75. Color 5.
Deselect.
Noise/Add Noise 8% Uniform.
Draw tool set to Point-to-Point line. Foreground color null. Background color 2. Antialias and Vector checked.
Draw a shape for the tail like this:
Add new layer called Lines. For every body part add a new layer called lines.
Draw tool. Freehand line size 1. Foreground color 9. Background color null. Antialias checked. Vector unchecked.
You now have something like this:
Go back to your top layer.
Add new layer called paws.
Draw tool same settings as above.
New layer called ears.
Draw tool same settings as above.
Draw a pair of ears like this:
Color in the ears. I used 2 and 6 for it.
Create new layer called Details color 5.
Airbrush. Size 15 (or lower if you want), Hardness 25, Opacity 25, Step 25, Density 25.
Add details like this:
New layer called details color 1.
Same airbrush settings. Only change Hardness to 50 and Opacity to 75. Add highlights like this:
New layer called details color 4.
Airbrush. Size 150, Hardness 25, Opacity 25, Step 25, Density 25.
Spray all over the cat. We will get rid of the outside spray later.
New layer called nose.
With selection tool draw a small triangle for the nose.
Flood fill with color 8.
Rotate 15% to the right.
Add Round Inner Bevel. Change Angel to 75.
Draw a small freehand line size 1 with same color under the nose.
New layer called eyes.
Paintbrush size 5 color 8. Add two dots for the eyes.
Draw a small freehand line size 1 with same color for the eyebrows.
New layer called Whiskers.
Draw tool. Freehand size 2. Color 8. Background color null.
Draw a few whiskers on both sides.
Duplicate image.
Hide Details color 4 layer.
Merge other layers visible.
Selection/Select All/Float.
Safe to Alpha Channel.
Go back to main picture.
Click at Details color 4 layer.
Load from Alpha Channel.
Selection Invert.
Hit delete key to get rid of the outside spray.
Shift + D to copy picture.
Merge Visible and export as tube.
Save the original without merging as PSP file.
You're Finished.
